What is Your Coping Style?
What is your coping style? Each of us reacts under pressure in a certain way. We default back to the behavior that helps us manage the things that are going on. This style is developed from several things. Our inborn temperament shapes who we become in a very strong way, but it isn’t the only thing. Our experiences also affect us. Our parents model for us how to deal with problems. In the midst of difficult circumstances, including those we lived with as children, we learn survival skills. Those survival skills can become your coping style and when you are under stress, those survival skills surface.
